The Training Band

The Training Band runs during term time (see rehearsals for details) and we are pleased to welcome players of any age.

Parts are tailored to the level of the player, so whilst our newest members join in with a simple part, we try to challenge the progressing players as they improve. The aim is to have fun playing together and build confidence in playing with a group, all the while gaining useful general musical knowledge.

More experienced players work with the less experienced and once the Bandmaster feels you are ready, he will invite you to join the Main Band practice for the first hour. Once you are regularly staying with Main Band, you will be invited to play with the band at engagements.

Within the Band’s Christmas Cracker Concert each December, the Training Band has the opportunity to play a short selection of music on its own and we encourage as many of our Training Band members as possible to play with us for the audience carols.
